Acting for Other Professionals

(who aren't actors)

Engaging participants in the skills and pleasures of acting for theatre – including spontaneity, preparation and performing in front of an audience.

The learning objectives of the workshop series include:

  • Confidence and ease with public speaking
  • Text analysis and argument building
  • Empathy
  • Collaboration
  • Physical awareness and fitness
  • More expertise in theatre and performance for seeing shows and dinner parties.

Jacob brings his idiosyncratic, fun and effective style of teaching and directing that focuses on the needs of the participants.

We’ll work together to learn great skills and leave feeling good about speaking in front of people and making strong choices in presenting.

A Testimonial

“Jacob’s guidance and insights have been invaluable to my work as a lawyer – every lawyer, young, old, new calls and the more seasoned, can stand to benefit from taking one of Jacob’s workshops.

Not only did Jacob’s workshop improve my abilities and boost my confidence, it was fun.

I am a criminal defence lawyer with no background in public speaking and I used to suffer from an absolute phobia of it. Although I made great strides throughout law school, I still struggled in making effective and persuasive submissions in court – until I took one of Jacob Zimmer’s workshops.

What an absolute difference it made in improving my oral advocacy skills. Although I still get nervous at times in court, I no longer get red in the face, I no longer say all of my submissions in one sentence, I am now aware of my body language and I know understand the effectiveness of pausing.
